Wood Board Replacement
Often when you think of house siding, you’re discussing the look of the house. Color, vertical vs. horizontal, the size of the panels, etc. But particularly when talking about real wood siding, it’s important to remember that your siding is your first line of defense against the elements.
Damage from hail, wood rot, pests, warping, etc can affect your home’s ability to keep water, wind and temperature out. Often, some boards will need to be replaced but not the entire run. It’s more common for boards toward the bottom of your home, near the foundation or roof lines may show damage first.
Signs that indicate that replacements may be needed include cracking, chipping paint, and a noticeable difference in the color of the underlying wood itself. Darker wood is often a signal that the area is absorbing and holding moisture.
For wood board replacement we typically inspect the damaged wood to determine the cause. Once we understand the cause of the issue, we can determine the next step, of this is simply to remove the damaged pieces taking care to not cause harm to the surrounding good boards.
Once removed, we’ll inspect any wood underneath the damaged boards to ensure no deeper damage has taken place. We will then measure, cut to fit, and reattach the new boards and then your home is ready for primer and a fresh coat of paint to ensure a seamless, even look.
